I’m not that much of a planner. I love a spontaneous day and I can easily go with the flow. However, these days many of my plans have changed dramatically. I have to admit, it’s getting a little hard. Changed vacation and birthday party plans. Changed graduation plans. And even several changed work plans have made these last few weeks challenging. To top things off, I am stuck at home a lot with two teenage girls who don’t always like me.
“I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:11-12
There isn’t a single moment in your life that God has not planned out for you. Quarantine is not an accident. Blended learning is not an accident. All the changed plans for this moment in time are not accidents. And you, Dear Parent, were not chosen to parent your kids by accident.
Some days are going to be better than others. On the bad days, seek God’s mercy. On the good days, thank Him for His grace. And every day pray for Him to stand in the gap where you feel like you’ve failed and be reminded that He is listening to each whisper for help.
The whole parenting journey is full of seasons. Remind yourself that the leaves will turn one day and you’ll be able to look back on this snap-shot of time knowing that it all fit perfectly into His plan to give you hope and a future.
